Founder & Head Coach

Seth Mortensen

Seth grew up here. He played at Hillcrest High School, where he's a member of the athletics Hall of Fame, then played defensive back at Utah Tech — corner, nickel, free and strong safety — finishing with more than 150 tackles and eight interceptions across three seasons. He still ranks third all-time at Utah Tech in passes defended and fourth in interceptions, and his junior year he was named a Division II honorable mention All-American — in the program's final D2 season, right before Utah Tech's jump to Division I. He started what would become FitRight while he was still playing — taking the best lessons from the great coaches who shaped him and working to build on them, so he could pass something even better to the next generation.

Seth also spent three full seasons in professional baseball as a Performance Enhancement Specialist with the Seattle Mariners organization (2010–2013), then brought it all back home to Idaho Falls and opened FitRight's doors in 2018.

His coaching is built on the science side as much as the sport side: a pre-med biology foundation, a master's degree in kinesiology and biomechanics, and the CSCS certification (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist — the standard held by college and pro strength staffs). His specialty is sprint mechanics and movement quality — the unglamorous details that make athletes fast and keep them off the training table.

Twenty-plus years of coaching later, the mission hasn't changed: build the athlete, not just the numbers.
